The annual iPubs vs St George's Hill fixture took place this year on Saturday July 13th on the excellent grass courts at St George’s Hill.

With grey skies above, the match opened with the iPubs’ 1st pair of Kristian Hunter and Tommy Bennett comfortably beating the St George’s Hill 2nd pair after fighting off a late comeback. Meanwhile, on the adjacent court, the iPubs’ 2nd pair of Jamie Crowfoot and Toby Rust took on the St George’s Hill 1st pair. This proved to be a closely fought encounter, where the home side prevailed in a narrow three set encounter.

With the match well-poised at one rubber each, the iPubs second pair stormed into an early lead, which they managed to maintain and comfortably beat the St George’s Hill 2nd pair. Contrastingly, in the 1st pair match, Kristian and Tommy got off to a slow start and lost the first set, but fought back well to take the second and force the match into a match tiebreak. Unfortunately for the iPubs, the St George’s Hill 1st pair snuck the tiebreak 10-8, resulting in the fixture finishing in an honourable 2-2 draw.
