D’Abernon Cup Final Qualifying 2024
On Saturday 27th July, five schools arrived at Eton College with the prize of playing the final at The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club up for grabs. In what was an absolutely beautiful day weather wise on the superb Eton College hard courts, each school arrived with plenty of optimism.
With an abbreviated format this year, all five schools played in a round robin group, with the top two schools going through to the final. The five schools competing were Old Reptonians, Old Georgians, Old Etonians, Old Reedonians and Old Bromsgrovians.
Throughout the day there were some extremely tight matches, with sudden death deuces playing their part as always. After three rounds, there were two distinctive teams at the top of the group. Old Reptonians and Old Reedonians couldn’t be caught and are the 2024 finalists, despite there being one round remaining.
A massive thanks goes out to the Committee for organising the day and specifically Chris Jenkins, for generously giving up his Saturday to run the tournament! A big congratulations to Old Reptonians and Old Reedonians, who will battle it out for the D’Abernon Cup Trophy on the 8th September 2024 at Wimbledon.
